For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Counting today, there are only three Sundays left for us to meet here at what will soon be our “old” location. That’s amazing. It’s an answer to so many prayers. But it will also be bittersweet. Rockport has worshiped at this location since July 1966 when the little mission church first moved into the old white farmhouse that once stood on the property. The ground for our present building was broken on October 22, 1967. So we’ve been worshiping here for almost 60 years. That’s 60 years of preaching, teaching, worship, of weddings celebrated, saints mourned at funerals, children trained, friendships formed and everything else that happens in the life of a church. For that we thank God, even as we look forward to the next chapter He is giving us in our new location. So let me remind you again what the next three weeks will look like.
- Next Sunday, May 3rd we will celebrate what God has done for us here these past 60 years. After the morning service we will share in a fellowship meal followed by a special service of thanksgiving in the auditorium. Plan on staying as we remember and give thanks for all God has done
- Sunday, May 10th will be Mother’s Day. There will be no Sunday School that day since our moving teams will already be at work getting everything moved to the new location. This will also be our final worship service here.
- Sunday, May 17th will be our first service of worship in our new location, 2334 Tenbrook Drive. It will include a fellowship meal and a time for us to dedicate the new facilities to God for His glory.
Continue in prayer for those who are working hard to get everything ready
