A Word from Pastor Scott
Sunday March 10, 2019

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.  Romans 12:1-2

A big part of Christian discipleship is learning how to think clearly and  biblically about the world around you. The Bible, in fact, was given for this purpose – to train you to think, first, by revealing the truth about God; and second by uncovering the truth about you! The Bible, as God’s Word, pierces the fog of human opinion and anchors us to the solid truth of a God-given revelation. Without that revelation we’d be left to ourselves and our own feeble opinions and feelings.

This is especially true when it comes to questions in the moral and spiritual realm in which we live. To understand this world, we must begin with God. We must begin with His Word. That’s always been true, but it is especially true in this day of moral confusion. More than any time in history people are unsure about what is real and what is not – even to the point of being confused about things as essential as a person’s gender, or the nature of marriage, or whether or not the life growing in a woman’s womb should be protected as human life! That’s why we’re beginning this new series on “Life Matters” this morning. We’ll be looking at the big questions people are asking today about life and death, marriage and gender, personal identity and the value of each human being. So where do we start? That’s important! Because where you start in your search for answers will largely determine the answers you find! We’ll be starting from the solid foundation we find in the God-given Truth of the Bible!

This morning, I hope to help you see why we cannot start our search for answers within ourselves or in our own feelings as we seek for truth. We must begin by looking to the objective truth of God’s Word!

Seeking to Know Him as the Source of all that is True
