“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
James 1:5

Concerning Moving Forward with Building Plans. Most of you are aware that we were planning to ask the church to approve the next step in our process of moving toward a new building at our semi-annual congregation meeting next Sunday, March 17th. If approved, we would have contracted with John Hessel to put together a Capitol Finance Campaign this Spring and begin raising the funds needed for such a building. However, after much prayerful consideration, we have determined it would be best to delay that decision until at least this Fall. There are several reason for this decision:

  • We believe more time is needed to determine the kind of structure we should build in light of the funds available to our congregation
  • We need to be able to answer some of the questions raised by our members after our last meeting
  • We need to analyze the giving trends of our congregation in light of a recent unexpected drop in regular giving over the past few months
  • We want to continue building up the funds we have on hand through the regular, faithful giving of our congregation.
  • We need more time to pray as we seek to move forward in a way that preserves the unity and joy of our congregation.

So while we still believe God is directing us to provide more space for our congregation and for those he will bring in response to the faithful preaching of His Word, we want to do so in a way that is marked by careful planning and wisdom and preserves the unity of our church moving forward. With that in mind, we ask you to continue to pray with us as we seek the Lord’s help and direction in order to be faithful to Him.

If we ask for His wisdom, He will give it. Let us ask!
